What To Expect On Sunday
It is our desire that when you step through our doors, you will sense a feeling of warmth and acceptance. We want you to relax, settle in and be open to what God might have in store for you. We understand that you may have some questions, such as “What kind of clothes should I wear?” “Where will I need to go for childcare?” “What kind of songs will they sing?” “Will they ask me to stand and introduce myself?” We have been in that same place with those questions in our minds as well. We want to provide information here that can help put you at ease and give you a glimpse of what Prairie Avenue Christian Center (PACC) is like so that when you step through our doors you can focus on our smiles rather than the butterflies in your stomach. We can’t wait to see you there! If there is any further information that you need, please contact us. Join us at 10am on Sundays!
What Kind Of People Go To PACC?
We enjoy the fact that people from all walks of life and every age group attend PACC. Many live in Hayden and Coeur d’Alene but there are several more who drive from surrounding areas such as Post Falls, Rathdrum and Athol. Our backgrounds and addresses may be varied, but we all share the same need: a place where we can come as we are to learn more about a God that has a fierce unconditional love for us.
What If I’ve Never Been To Church Before?
There are no prerequisites for church attendance; come as you are, get a drink and/or a doughnut from the kitchen, locate the restroom signs and nursery (for kids 2 and under) and take a seat. We start by singing (you are welcome to stand or sit) and then the older children (ages 3 through junior high) are dismissed for Sunday School while the adults enjoy a message. That’s it! We hope you will feel welcomed and want to connect even more. If you do, we have many opportunities for this as well.
What Should I Wear?
Come as you are. You won’t feel out of place in jeans and a t-shirt but if you want to dress up, that’s fine too.
What Will The Worship Be Like?
At the start of each meeting we spend about 30 minutes singing songs centered on what Jesus did for us on the cross, we call this time worship. Some may stand or sit, some may raise their hands and some may even dance. For us this is a time that we can say “God has worth, that He is worthy.”
“When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without heart.” – Lamar Boschman
What If I’m Running Late?
We have all been late from time to time. Don’t sweat it. Our greeters will be there to help you find a seat to make your arrival smooth. Better late than never, we are just glad you came!
How Do I Get There?
Please read our CONTACT page for directions.
Will I Be Asked To Give Money?
There is no expectation for guests to give. Giving is a part of how we worship God, and because worship is a choice, we will never expect or request guests to give financially towards our vision. Those who have taken the step of membership are encouraged to give with excitement and joy rather than out of obligation.
What About My Kids?
Children are very important to PACC. It is our desire to create a fun and engaging environment where kids learn about the greatness of Christ. Our team consists of trustworthy and trained members who have passed a background check.
Our nursery is located in the back hall at the North end of the building. Kids can be checked in 10 minutes before the service begins and picked up directly after.
Sunday School for children over age two will be dismissed after the music portion of our service. Jr. High meets upstairs above the kitchen area. All other classes meet in our classrooms outside through the Northeast doors at the back of the auditorium.
What Kind Of Church Is PACC?
We are uninterested in “organized religion” and doing things simply for the sake of tradition. Instead, we have a desire to form authentic relationships while learning more about our amazing God. We welcome your questions and desire to grow and learn together. We do our best to keep things simple and straightforward. We are a part of a family of churches worldwide called New Frontiers. It is not a denomination but a group of churches with the same vision and values. To find out more visit: www.NewFrontiersTogether.org
What Are The Messages Like?
The goal of our teachings is life transformation, not just the transmission of information. Bible knowledge is not assumed, it’s explained. We recognize that not everyone learns in a literate way, but everyone learns orally. It’s the personal stories that you remember from speeches. It’s the charisma that you found contagious. It’s the down-to-earth, practical, intellectual, emotional and personal message that gets set apart in your mind. We don’t achieve that every time, but it’s our goal. We teach directly from the Bible but in a relevant style. See for yourself
How Long Are The Meetings?
We start at 10:00am and end around 11:30am. You are welcome to stay a while and visit afterwards if you don’t have immediate plans. We have a free book for all our first time guests, so grab one as you leave. It’s a little thank you for visiting and staying till the end!
If I Like It, How Do I Get Involved?
The best ways are to join a small group, serve on a Sunday morning or become a member. Just fill out our connection card on Sunday morning and let us know what interests you most.
